24 Sep Rowan Berry Jam
I don’t know why I’m posting this because I’ve discovered that I don’t like rowan-berry jam. Actually, I do know why I post this, because I spent time remaking this jam 2 times and taking photos of it and editing the photos. I’m trying to convince myself that someone out there might like Rowan Berry Jam even if I didn’t. I don’t like coffee but that doesn’t stop everyone else from loving it. After making this jam I’ve found several recipes that use 50% rowan berries and 50% apples to make it less bitter and sour. I’ve included links to them below.
I still think you should make this jam if you:
- like to use what you have in your garden,
- if you’re broke because this is cheap
- if you like coffee because there’s a slightly bigger chance that you will like this if you’re into bitter food and drinks.
Rowan Berries can differ a lot in taste and there are some varieties that taste better than others. Because of this you might actually make a really good jam! And my jam may have tasted really bad because of my berries. Remember that you have to freeze the berries over night.
I didn’t use apples in my recipe and I think it’s necessary in order to make a tasty Rowan Berry Jam. Therefore I won’t include my recipe in this post. Instead you can use one of these recipes if you want to give this jam a try:

Posted at 15:50h, 24 Septemberthese photos are stunning! I’ve never tried rowan berry jelly, so if I can find rowan berries I think I’ll try it and see if I like it … I always find wild berries are always fascinating.

I didn’t even know you could actually eat rowan berries. Funny. So I have absolutely no idea if I would like them or not 😉 Well, this jam looks incredibly delicious! I’d love to try it!

Posted at 07:26h, 27 SeptemberWow, I see these berries everywhere, and I never knew they were edible! I feel your pain, I’ve spent way too many times photographing failed recipes and I’m so glad you’re able to share it and make some recommendations for tastier jam. 🙂

Posted at 10:05h, 27 SeptemberI have never comes cross rowan berries here in Australia, which is a shame because I would have loved to try them and make a rowan berry jam. They are something that I will have to keep my eye out for. Obsessed with your great photography too, pinned!
