19 Jun Homemade lavender lemonade
My summer holidays has just begun and I’m now in the southern France. The warm weather make me long for something cold and refreshing, like lemonade. In our garden we have both lavender and lemons so I decided to make lavender lemonade and yes, it does taste exactly like lavender smells! It’s absolutely amazing…
Homemade Lavender Lemonad
- A small handful of fresh or dried lavender
- 200 ml white granulated sugar
- 500 ml of boiling water
- Juice from one big lemon
- 500 ml of cold water or more
- Ice
Directions:
- Cut the lavender flowers from the stems (do not strip off the flower) and place in a medium bowl. Pour the sugar over the lavender and gently rub the flowers into the sugar with clean fingers.
- Pour the boiling water in the bowl and stir with a spoon until the sugar has dissolved. Let infuse for 30 minutes up to several hours. (I let mine infuse for 40 minutes)
- Strain the lavender syrup into a serving carafe.
- Stir in the lemon juice and add the cold water. Add more lemon juice if it’s to sweet. Serve in glasses with ice.
